Mumbai: The war between Russia and Ukraine continues. Meanwhile, a Russian diplomat claimed on Wednesday that Ukraine’s war has resulted in the death of more than 19 thousand people, including at least 13 thousand civilians, in the Donbass and Novorossia regions. Russian Foreign Ministry official Rodion Miroshnik said that this conflict will not end until Ukraine stops being a ‘puppet’ in the hands of other powers.
what the data says
Addressing a function at the Russian House here, Miroshnik said that during the ongoing war, there has been a “complete collapse” of international norms and political and diplomatic mechanisms used to resolve the conflict. He said, “A total of 19,300 people have died in the Donbass and Novorossia regions due to Kiev’s war. The number of civilian deaths has also crossed the 13 thousand mark.”
Ukraine joined forces with the wrong people
Indirectly pointing towards the western countries, Miroshnik said, “Ukraine is fighting a war by joining hands with the wrong people. This conflict will not end until Ukraine stops being a puppet in the hands of others and starts thinking about its people.” He said that this conflict is different in many ways from the ongoing war between the two countries. Rodion alleged that in the last ten years Ukrainian security forces have been attacking common citizens and targeting public places like markets and cafes with missiles. (Language)
