In today’s time where CCTV cameras are installed in every small and big shop, can there be any such shop where there is no door in the shop! In today’s era, where people are not able to trust even their loved ones, there is also a shopkeeper who is trusting unknown customers. We are talking about a shop in Kevadi village of Chhotaudaipur district of Gujarat, which does not have a door. This shop is open 24 hours a day.
Even though it may sound strange, but this shop, which has been running for the last 30 years, is in reality. The surprising thing related to a shop without a door is that no one asks for money while shopping in this shop. Customers themselves take the goods they need and leave with money. The name of the owner of this shop is Sayedbhai. When The Better India tried to know about it from him, Sayedbhai told about his shop that he has been running this shop since the age of 18. He further told that this shop is running on trust and will continue to run like this in future also.
Talking about this, Sayedbhai said that at first the people of the village found it very strange to run a shop like this. People showed different types of doubts about it. But then Sayedbhai went door to door explaining to the people that if they needed anything, their shop was always open and people could take whatever they wanted. It took some time but slowly people started believing in the shop. Sayedbhai further explains, “There is only one rule of any business – trust. And if I have not done anything wrong till date, then I will never be wrong. In this life, I fear only God. Why are you afraid of humans? With this thought in mind, I started running this shop in this manner.”
However, it is not that this shop has never been stolen. According to Sayedbhai, the battery was stolen from this shop four years ago.
Sayedbhai’s father was also a businessman. Earlier the people of the village called his father as Ubha Seth and today this surname is used for Sayedbhai. His shop is called ‘Ubha Seth’s shop’. Talking about this shop, everything from milk to groceries remains in the shop. Apart from this, he also keeps things like water tank, doors, tiles, cutlery, hardware etc. All these things are available to the people 24 hours a day. According to their need, the villagers come and take the goods and keep the money.
Let us tell you that Sayedbhai lives alone in Kevadi village. He ran a shop from Godhra for about 13 years. He has lived in Vadodara for the last 17 years. Apart from his wife, he has two sons, one of whom is a pilot and the other is currently studying.
