Bengaluru. Former Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli returned to the cricket field after a long break from the Indian Premier League. The T20 World Cup is to be played in America and West Indies in June this year. For this, amid the ongoing discussion about Virat Kohli’s place in the Indian team, this veteran batsman said that he is still capable of playing in this format.
On Monday, RCB registered a thrilling win against Punjab in the last over. Batting first, Shikhar Dhawan’s team had scored 176 runs. In 19.2 overs, Bangalore team won after losing 6 wickets due to Kohli’s fifty and Dinesh Karthik’s stormy innings at the end. Kohli remained out of cricket for two months due to the birth of his son. He scored 77 runs on 49 balls in the IPL match on Monday, due to which his team Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) opened their account by defeating Punjab Kings. Kohli was chosen the best player of the match.
The 35-year-old player said after the match, “I know that these days whenever it comes to T20 cricket, my name is linked to promoting the game in many parts of the world. But I am still capable of it.
The former Indian captain does not need to prove anything but he believes that there is a need to continuously improve his game in the T20 format. When Kohli was asked about playing shots in the air on the off side against fast bowlers, he said, “You always have to add something new to your game. People know that I play cover drives well so they won’t let me hit shots in empty spaces. In such a situation, you have to come up with a strategy and continuously try to improve your game.
