After this incident came to light, there was chaos in KP Roy Lane of Garfa area on Monday. The police, who reached the spot, took the woman’s body in their custody and sent it for post-mortem to ascertain the cause of death, while the deranged man has been sent to the Government SSKM Hospital for treatment.
Police said that preliminary investigation revealed that Aruna Dey, who was around 55 years old, was living in the area with her son Kaushik Dey for several years. Her husband Sangram De Bhabha, a former employee of the Atomic Research Center, died in 2021 and his body was recovered by the police in a similar manner.
A police officer said, “We had received information from the local people that no activity was taking place inside Dey’s residence. After that, when we reached here for investigation, we found the woman’s body lying on the bed and her 30-year-old son next to her. I was lying in a semi-conscious state.” He said the woman was suffering from paralysis for the last two years and it seems that she died a few days back.
Let us tell you that in June 2015, the police found a software engineer Partha Dey living with the skeletons of his sister Debjani Dey and two pet dogs in Robinson Street of the city. The police came to know about this incident when they reached the house of Partha Dey’s father Arbind Dey to investigate the death.
