After the rape of a female doctor in Kolkata, doctors across the country are angry. They are demanding justice and security. The Federation of President Doctors Association has announced a nationwide strike. At the same time, cricketer Sourav Ganguly has also raised his voice in this matter. 1. On the RG Medical College incident, former Indian cricketer Sourav Ganguly said, this is a very unfortunate incident and disgusting too. There is no forgiveness for such crimes. The administration should take immediate action on this incident. Actually, such incidents can happen anywhere. Unfortunately, this incident happened in a hospital. There should be CCTV arrangements and security should also be strong. Strict action needs to be taken on this.
2. FORDA i.e. Federation of President Doctors Association has announced a nationwide strike on Monday. Except emergency services, all other services will be affected. Doctors have written a letter to the Union Health Minister demanding strict punishment for the culprits. Patients will have to face problems in getting treatment due to the strike.
3. On the other hand, according to police sources, despite confessing the crime, the accused has no regrets. No sign of remorse is visible on his face. During interrogation, he told that he had drunk alcohol before the murder. After the murder, he returned to the police barracks and drank alcohol. After that he slept. Even in the CCTV footage, he was seen drinking alcohol in front of the police.
4. Sealdah Court has ordered 14 days’ custody of Sanjay Roy, who was arrested in the case of harassing a junior doctor. Many sensational facts have come to light about Sanjay. According to police sources, after police interrogation and other evidence presented by the investigators, when Sanjay realized that he would not be able to escape, he confessed to the crime.
5. Considering the seriousness of the matter, the government has removed the superintendent of RG Medical College, Sanjay Vashisht. Professor Dr. Bulbul Mukhopadhyay has been given the responsibility in his place. The Director of Medical Education of West Bengal has given an order related to this. Dr. Bulbul is one of the members of the 11-member Special Investigation Team or SIT formed in the case of the murder of the lady doctor. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has already said that the accused will be brought to the gallows soon.
6. However, the former students there are demanding the transfer of the principal. In a letter written to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, they said that it is very important to dismiss the principal to restore the reputation of the college. The doctors and students of the hospital also have the same demand. That the principal should resign. The Police Commissioner held a meeting with the junior doctors of the hospital, but the doctors are not ready to agree.
7. After the incident, the security of women will be reviewed in entire West Bengal. The Police Commissioner said, we will identify the areas where more crimes against women take place. It will be investigated whether this is an organized crime and strict action is being prepared. With the help of private organizations, surveillance will be increased through CCTV cameras, and there will be more strictness in places like government hospitals, women’s hostels.
8. BJP state president Sukanta Majumdar has written a letter to Union Health Minister JP Nadda seeking his intervention. In the letter, Sukanta Majumdar has also requested Nadda to send a special team of CBI and National Medical Commission to investigate the matter. He also requested to take appropriate steps to ensure the safety of doctors and nurses, including installing CCTV cameras.
