The case of rape and murder of a junior doctor at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College has been handed over to the CBI. The CBI team will start the investigation on Wednesday. 1. As the investigation into the murder of the lady doctor is progressing, the mystery is getting more complicated. Now it is being claimed that renovation work is going on right in front of the seminar room of the Chest Medicine Department of RG Kar Hospital where the lady doctor was raped and murdered. The wall is broken, bricks are scattered all around. Many such pictures have surfaced on social media. The question is why was there a sudden need to repair the hospital room? Is this an attempt to hide the evidence of the doctor’s murder?
2. Students of RG Kar Hospital say that the police was negligent. How did so many people reach the seminar hall where the lady doctor was raped and murdered? If the evidence is lost or destroyed, who will be responsible for it? Did the police deliberately let them go inside? SFI, DYFI have sought an answer from the administration.
3. The West Bengal Doctors Forum has alleged that attempts are being made to tamper with evidence at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. In a letter to the CBI, they said, “We have received reports of renovation at the place, we fear that this may be an attempt to tamper with evidence. This will hamper the investigation.”
4. The Kolkata High Court has handed over the investigation of the junior doctor’s murder to the CBI. But a decision on which CBI unit will be used in the investigation may be taken on Wednesday. Sources say that such cases are usually handed over to the Special Crime Branch. In such a situation, it is expected that this case will also be handed over to the Special Crime Branch.
5. A special CBI team with medical and forensic experts will go to Kolkata on Wednesday. The team will first go to RG Kar Medical College, where forensic experts will collect evidence as per their requirement. The special team will also take information about what the police has found so far in the investigation.
6. On Tuesday afternoon, two CBI officers reached the police station and took all the documents including the certified copy of the FIR. There may be a discussion on this matter between senior officials of Delhi, legal cell and senior officials of Kolkata. Officials said that experts will see the post-mortem report and if any videography has been done, they will analyze it.
7. In a strict decision, the Kolkata High Court has ordered the immediate leave of former principal of RG Kar Hospital, Dr. Sandeep Ghosh. The court said – You are very powerful, it is difficult to have a fair investigation while you are in office. After pressure from the students, Dr. Ghosh resigned from the post. But within a few hours he was made the principal of Calcutta National Medical College.
8. After the order of the Calcutta High Court, doctors in many states including Delhi have called off their strike. However, post graduate medical students in Hyderabad will boycott OPD services today. They say that they want the resignation of the Health Minister and the Chief Minister. On the other hand, the BJP Mahila Wing will organize a “Dhikkar Michhil” program in Kolkata today.
