Are we still in the year 2012? Nirbhaya’s mother’s question
Nirbhaya’s mother Asha Devi said, ‘The most unfortunate thing is the situation that has developed there. Instead of working on the case and working on the shortcomings of women’s safety and law, the governments are accusing each other. They are protesting. Health ministry, police, everything comes under the CM (West Bengal). I don’t understand against whom she (Mamata Banerjee) is protesting. From whom is she asking for death penalty. The law is in their hands, the government could have at least sent the case to the lower court properly. Whenever such an incident happens, Nirbhaya’s name comes up, but what have we learned from the Nirbhaya incident, what changes have come in the system? We are still in 2012…’
