New Delhi. Amidst the strike of resident doctors in many government hospitals across the country in protest against the rape and murder of a female trainee doctor in Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College, the Principal Professor of Kolkata Medical College, Dr. Sandeep Ghosh has resigned from his post. Dr. Sandeep Ghosh says that the female trainee doctor who was raped and murdered was like my daughter. As a guardian, I am resigning from my post. He said that I do not want this to happen to anyone in the future. He also said that I am being defamed in this case, people are making various comments about me on social media, I am resigning hurt by this.

On the other hand, health services are being affected today due to the doctors’ strike across the country. The strike has affected OPD services in Delhi’s Ram Manohar Lohia (RML) hospital. A large number of patients and their relatives are wandering here and there. On the other hand,
A delegation of doctors on strike met Health and Family Welfare Ministry Secretary Apurva Chandra and conveyed their concerns regarding the safety of doctors.

After meeting Secretary Apurva Chandra, Federation of Resident Doctors Association (FORDA) General Secretary Dr Sarvesh Pandey said that we have met the Health Secretary. We issued a press release yesterday which mentioned our demands that the Principal of RG Kar Medical College should be removed immediately. There should be a CBI inquiry into the matter – a track court and a committee of the Central Security Act should be formed. We will continue our strike till we get a written assurance from the government in this regard. He says that only emergency services will work.
