Dubai/Kuwait City: Kuwait government will give compensation of 15 thousand dollars to the families of all 50 people including 46 Indians who died in the recent fire in South Ahmadi Governorate. This claim has been made in a news. According to Kuwaiti officials, a short circuit caused a fire in a seven-storey building in Mangaf area on June 12. 196 migrant workers were living in the building, most of whom were Indians.
The amount will be sent to the concerned embassies
According to a report published in the ‘Arab Times’ newspaper on Tuesday, on the orders of Kuwait’s Emir, Sheikh Meshaal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the families of the deceased will be given $15,000 (Rs 12.5 lakh) as compensation. Quoting government sources, the newspaper wrote that this amount will be sent to the concerned embassies. Three citizens of the Philippines were also killed in the fire and one deceased has not been identified. The report said that the concerned embassies will work to send the amount to the families of the deceased.
Instructions were given
Let us tell you that, recently the Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Meshaal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah had issued instructions to distribute financial assistance to the families of the deceased. However, he did not mention the amount of compensation then. Meanwhile, a Kuwaiti citizen and several foreigners have been arrested on charges of murder and causing injury due to negligence in safety measures after the incident.
Central and state governments also announced help
The Government of India had announced a compensation of Rs 2 lakh each to the families of those who lost their lives in the horrific fire. The Kerala government had said last week that it would provide financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh to the families of the people of its state who lost their lives in this accident. (Language)
