Every year a large number of students go to the Central Asian country Kyrgyzstan for MBBS i.e. medical studies. Education there is cheap and admission is also easy. Indian students are in danger these days in Kyrgyzstan.
Last week, some local people attacked students from Pakistan and Egypt in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan. Some people made a video of this incident and made it viral on social media. After this the matter got worse. In the video of the fight that went viral on May 13, there were students from Pakistan and Egypt. But this enraged the local people so much that they started attacking all the foreign students.
Kyrgyzstani took to the streets
Students studying MBBS in various medical colleges of Kyrgyzstan have requested for help. He has narrated his story on video call. Rohit Panchal, resident of Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, is stuck in his hostel. He told that after what happened on May 13, the Kyrgyzstanis became very angry and they entered the hostel and started killing foreign students (especially Indians, Pakistanis, Egyptians and Bangladeshis).
Indian students are in lockdown for 4 days
Seeing the matter increasing, the classes of the students were made online. But even this is not giving them any relief. From May 18, 2024, all Indian students are confined to their hostels or flats. They are not even allowed to leave the room. The Indian Embassy is in touch with these students and they are being advised to stay inside their flats or hostels. The students themselves are not going out because of fear. Student Rohit Panchal told that his teachers are helping him completely.

Stranded at a distance of about 2300 km from the country
Kyrgyzstan is a country in Central Asia. It is at a distance of about 2300 km from India. Kyrgyzstan’s border is mainly connected to China. Rohit Panchal told in a phone conversation that not only is he far away from his country, he is also about 20 kilometers away from Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan. His college and hostel are in Kant city. The fire of riots has spread from the capital to Kant. Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar has advised all Indian students to stay in touch with the Embassy.
