New Delhi. India’s badminton player Lakshya Sen has made it to the quarter-finals of the men’s singles at the Paris Olympics 2024 with a brilliant performance. This is his first Olympics, and he has won everyone’s heart with his unique playing style. In the pre-quarterfinals, he achieved this feat by defeating his own country’s experienced player HS Prannoy 21-12, 21-6 in straight sets. Lakshya Sen started aggressively in the first set itself and did not give Prannoy any chance. In the first set, Sen put Prannoy under pressure with his speed and intelligence and won the set 21-12. Lakshya’s performance was also unique in the second set. He kept Prannoy under constant pressure and allowed him to score only 6 points. Lakshya won the set 21-6 and won the match.
Lakshya Sen is only the second Indian to reach the quarter-finals of the badminton men’s singles at the Olympics. Earlier, P. Kashyap had achieved this feat in 2012. After 12 years, Lakshya has repeated this unique achievement. Now in the quarter-finals, he will face 12th seeded Chen Chou Tien of Chinese Taipei.
Earlier, Lakshya Sen defeated Guatemala’s Kevin Cordon in his first Olympic match, who later withdrew from the competition due to injury. He then defeated Belgium’s Julien Caregi and then won against Jonathan Christie to make it to the pre-quarterfinals. He won 21-12, 21-18 against Christie. This brilliant performance of Lakshya Sen has created a wave of happiness among Indian badminton lovers. Now all eyes are on the quarter-finals, where another explosive performance is expected from him. If Lakshya maintains his current form, he can add another new chapter to the history of Indian badminton.
