Impact of heavy rain in Uttarakhand

Due to heavy rains in the hilly areas of the country, landslides have occurred at many places. Due to this, many roads have been closed. Two children died and nine people were seriously injured when the roof of a house collapsed in Roorkee. In such a situation, the Uttarakhand Disaster Management Authority has issued a helpline number and said that it is raining heavily in the mountains, please be careful and alert and stay in touch with each other! Please inform these contact numbers about any natural disaster/incident/accident/road blockage/damage.

Due to heavy rains, the water level of Ganga is rising in Jageshwar Dham of Almora. There has been heavy damage to the ghat along with the bridge of the temple’s Yoga Maidan. Many walls have been reported to have collapsed. The water level of the Jagan river has also increased in Sherghat. There is a continuous land subsidence on the Almora Sherghat motor road in Tirmuli. In such a situation, there is a danger to the people coming and going.

126 roads closed in Uttarakhand

Due to heavy rains and landslides, 126 roads have been closed in Uttarakhand. Pithoragarh district of the state is the worst affected, in which Pithoragarh-Tawaghat National Highway, one border road and 23 rural motor roads are closed. 10 in Rudraprayag, 8 in Bageshwar, 2 in Champawat, while 11 motor roads are closed in Tehri. Three state roads and 6 rural motor roads are blocked in Uttarkashi, one state road and 17 rural motor roads are blocked in Dehradun. One state road, another district road and one rural motor road are blocked in Almora. One main district road and 22 rural motor roads are blocked in Chamoli. One main district road and 22 rural motor roads are blocked in Udham Singh Nagar due to landslides and disaster.
