Kullu,. A landslide occurred near the gurudwara on Sunday evening at Manikaran in Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh and a big tree fell. Six people died on the spot in the accident, while several others were injured. The incident took place around 5 pm. At that time many people were sitting on the roadside in front of the gurudwara.
According to the information, a huge tree with debris suddenly fell on the road from the hill, which came in the grip of many people. The dead include a street operator standing on the roadside, two people in a sumo car and three tourists. The process of identification of the dead continues.
In addition to Kullu, District Magistrate (ADM) Ashwani Kumar said that six people have died and many others were injured in the accident. The injured have been admitted to the hospital for immediate treatment. He said that relief and rescue operations are being carried out rapidly. The administration and police teams are handling the situation by reaching the spot.
Due to landslides from the hill, the road connecting Kullu to Manikaran has become jammed and long queues of vehicles have been installed on both sides of the road. The police have stopped traffic before managing to handle the situation, so that the situation does not deteriorate further.
There is an atmosphere of panic among the local people and tourists due to this accident being busy and at a religious place. The administration has appealed to the people to be vigilant and stay away from the scene. The cause of the accident is being investigated.
