The situation has become serious due to heavy rains in many parts of the country. Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and the national capital Delhi are in a bad condition. Many cities of these states are submerged in rain water. At the same time, heavy rains have also caused havoc in Odisha. Due to a massive landslide after torrential rains in Odisha, 18 villages in the state’s Malkangiri district have been cut off from other parts of the state. Officials gave this information.

The landslide occurred on Saturday afternoon near Tumba Padar village on the Bayapadar Ghat road in Nakamudi Gram Panchayat under Korukonda block of Malkangiri district. Landslides were reported in Lamataput and Nandpur areas of Malkangiri and Koraput amid heavy rains, affecting vehicular movement. The Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) office confirmed the landslide in Malkangiri. The official statement said that SRC Satyabrata Sahu has discussed with the District Magistrate of Malkangiri and the work to open the road is underway. It said that traffic movement will be restored soon.

Rain warning in these areas

The IMD has also warned of winds blowing at a speed of 40 to 50 kmph over the Bay of Bengal on Sunday. Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea as it is likely to remain turbulent. The Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rains in Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Nuapada and Nabarangpur on July 28. The IMD said that heavy rain has been warned at one or two places in Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj and Balasore during the next 24 hours (July 29).
