It is very important to keep some things in mind before filing income tax return. Also, keep some important documents with you, so that you do not face any problem while filing income tax online.

  • Tax payers paying income tax must keep their Aadhaar card and PAN card with them.
  • Apart from this, you should keep a bank statement to get income tax exemption etc.
  • Employed people should keep Form 16 with them.
  • Apart from this, donation receipt, bank interest certificate (if any), insurance policy etc. should be kept with one.
  • If you are paying income tax for the first time, then it must be kept in mind that your Aadhaar card and PAN card must be linked.
  • For this, you can visit the Income Tax website and check the linking of Aadhaar card and PAN card.

How to file Income Tax Returns (ITR) online

First of all you have to go to the Income Tax website (https://eportal.incometax.gov.in/iec/foservices/#/login).

Here you have to log in with your PAN card number.

After entering the PAN card number, you will have to enter OTP and password etc.

After this, on the next page, you will have to select the assessment year for filing income tax, which will be the current i.e. FY 2024-25.

Then you choose either Individual, HUF or other option for your income tax.

After this select the type of ITR form.
On the next page you will have to answer the given options and questions.
Then you validate the pre-filled information.
Finally, by e-verifying the ITR, you will be able to file your income tax return.
