In this notice sent by BJP, Atishi has been told, you are requested to immediately withdraw the said allegation and broadcast your apology prominently on television and social media, failing which my client will file civil and legal action against you. Will be forced to initiate criminal proceedings. Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva said that on Tuesday Atishi claimed that through a close acquaintance, he was being pressurized to join BJP, failing which he was being threatened with arrest. Additionally, Atishi attempted to mislead by mentioning the possible arrest of other AAP leaders Saurabh Bhardwaj, Raghav Chadha and Durgesh Pathak.
Sachdeva said that Atishi’s allegation is baseless. He said that no concrete information was given by Atishi. If the person contacted was a close acquaintance, who he was and on whose instructions the conversation took place was also not disclosed. The Delhi BJP chief further said that whenever Atishi or his party was cornered in political situations, he told stories of law breaking or arrest of leaders. Sachdeva said this had been done twice recently, but provided no evidence. The allegations made by Atishi tarnish the image of BJP, its leadership and its workers. That’s why we have given a defamation notice to Atishi.
