Eminent economist Jeffrey Sachs has given a major warning about India. He has advised India not to trust America at all. He has also told how America wants to make India a pawn against China. Jeffrey Sachs shared his opinion about India in a podcast with Hindustan Times. He said that if India thinks that America considers him a true ally, then he is cheating himself. According to Sachs, American politicians do not care about India at all. He has no long -term strategic interest in creating a supply chain in India. This becomes clear from stopping America’s heavy duty and trade promises. Sachs also denied India’s security in supporting Washington against China at the Quad Alliance. He has advised India to balance relations with countries like America, China, Russia and African Union.
Sachs said that American politicians are immersed in old thinking. They want to dominate the world. This is an illusion. America is not the leader of the world. He cannot order the rest of the world. He also said that this thinking is present in both Republican and Democrat parties. This is especially in the case of Donald Trump. He has no colleague. He has no strategic partner. He only sees immediate benefits. Some people have accused Sachs of being ‘anti -America’. On this, he said that this is only the mindset of Washington. Sachs said, “When I was in India in spring, I said that do not trust a very big business relationship.” That is, he already expected that India could also get a shock with America.
The US is not interested in the Indian supply chain, Sachs further said, ‘India hopes that it will become a good partner of the US to reduce its dependence on China and increase the supply chain. I tried to explain not to trust it. The US is not interested in the Indian supply chain at all. Trump is not interested in this. Trump is not able to have a long -term strategic relationship under any circumstances. ‘ In other words, the US will not help reduce India’s dependence by purchasing less goods from China. He said, ‘I am not a supporter of the quad at all. This is a game of America. It is not in India’s interest to support America against China. This means that quad is just a way of America. India will not benefit from joining it.
Regarding the new tariff imposed on India by the US, Sachs said, ‘What is happening with these punitive tariffs is highlighting the original truth. There is no strategic relationship between America and India. That is, America does not consider India as its friend. Regarding the leaders of Washington, Sachs said, ‘They are confused. They think not about any major partnership with India, but about the dominance of America. ‘ This means that American leaders only wonder how America should always remain powerful and control everything.
Indo-US trade talks were already doubted
Sachs insisted that this thinking is on both sides. He said, ‘What I am saying is true, whether it is Biden or Trump or Obama … but it is especially true in the case of Trump. He has no colleague. He has no strategic partner. They have only urgency and minority. ‘ In other words, there will be no change in America’s foreign policy, irrespective of the President.
Sachs said that he had doubts about the US-India trade talks from the beginning. He did not think that it would lead to any good result. Sachs responded to those who accused him of being ‘anti -America’. He said, “I was just trying to tell the truth about the thinking of the people of Washington and their way of working.”
According to Sachs, India should focus on creating a multi -polar world. It should maintain good relations with countries like America, China, Russia and African Union. India should not take the favor of any one country. He needs to work closely with everyone. This will benefit India and bring peace in the world.
