Ujjain (Naiduniya Representative). Mahashivratri festival is celebrated in Jyotirlinga Mahakal temple. As soon as the doors of the sanctum sanctorum are opened at 2.45 am on Tuesday, the sound of Jai Mahakal is heard everywhere. The entry of devotees has started from 5.30 pm, which will continue till 11 pm on Wednesday. Devotees are getting happy after getting darshan of their unique King Mahakal. There was an incident of scuffle between the devotees near the Char Dham temple in the morning, but everything went well due to the vigilance of the police on duty in the temple. There are two queues of free darshan for general visitors. A queue has been reserved for the devotees with a speedy darshan ticket of Rs.250.
According to tradition, the doors of the temple opened on Tuesday night at 2.45 pm on Mahashivratri. After this, the priests performed Panchamrita Abhishek worship of Lord Mahakal. Mahant Vineetgiriji Maharaj of Mahanirvani Akhara offered ashes to the Lord. After this, aarti was performed by offering bhog to the deity. The general darshan started from 5.30 in the morning. Government worship will be done on behalf of Tehsil at 12 noon on Tuesday. Sandhya Puja will be held at 5 pm. There will be evening aarti at 7 pm. Government worship will be done by the district administration at 12 o’clock in the night. Today at 7 pm, the city of Ujjain will be lit with 21 lakh lamps.
Mahapuja in Mahanishkaal
According to the tradition of the temple, the priest will perform the Mahapuja of Mahakal in Mahanishakaal. On March 2, at 4 am, a flower crown made of Lord’s Sheesh Sawaman fruits and flowers will be decorated. Aarti will be done at 6 in the morning by offering various dishes, fruits and dry fruits to the Lord. At 11 o’clock in the morning the crown will be removed from the head of the Lord. There will be a Bhasmari once a year at 12 noon. The great festival will end with Bhog Aarti at 2.30 pm. The doors of the temple will be closed after 44 hours at 11 pm on Wednesday.

The courtyard of Mahakal is shining with flowers, poster rangoli and electric lights. Mangal lamp will also be lit in Twilight Vela on Tuesday evening. There will be lamp decoration in the Kotitirth Kund and 44 temples of the complex. The splendor of Shiva Parvati marriage has been fascinated by the devotees. The temple administration has made elaborate arrangements for darshan to fulfill the wishes of every mind. A target has been set to provide darshan to more than 2 lakh devotees in 44 hours.
