LIVE Russia-Ukraine War: Sunday is the 11th day of the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine. Tension continues to rise and every effort to reduce the conflict is proving to be in vain. The latest news is that Russia had announced a ceasefire in two cities on Saturday, which failed. After this, Russian President Vladimir Putin has expressed a message on the future of Ukraine. Putin warned that Ukrainian statehood was in danger. Earlier he likened the West’s sanctions on Russia to a ‘declaration of war’. Putin reiterated that his goal in Ukraine is to protect the Russian-speaking community by demilitarizing and neutralizing the country by eradicating Nazism.
Addressing female flight attendants of Aeroflot at a training center near Moscow, the Russian president said the sanctions being imposed against Russia were like war. But thank God that it has not become effective yet.
He said any attempt by any other force to enforce a no-fly zone would be considered a war against Russia. However, NATO rejected Ukraine’s demand for a no-fly zone. It believes that any such attempt could lead to fighting outside Ukraine as well.
Putin said that his army does not include fighters of any organization other than professional soldiers. He clarified that we are not bringing fighters from elsewhere in our army. Our army will achieve all its goals only on the strength of professional soldiers. The entire military operation is going on as planned. I am sure that my army will complete all the tasks.
Putin dismissed concerns that some sort of martial law or a state of emergency could be declared in Russia. He said such measures are implemented only when there is a significant internal or external threat. He said that we do not even plan to start any kind of special system in the country. Currently there is no need for this. The government has tightened its grip on the protests against the war in Russia.
