The number of candidates fielded is 693, of which 90 are women. The number of voters is 2.25 crore. These include 1.20 crore males, while 1.05 crore females and 1727 third gender voters. The voting, which continued from 7 am to 6 pm, will take place. There is a special eye on some seats in the fifth phase. While the reputation of six ministers of the Yogi government including Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya is at stake, the Congress’s old stronghold Amethi is also in the battlefield of this phase. Voting is also taking place in Ayodhya, which is at the center of the politics of the country and the state.
LIVE UP Elections 2022: These giants are in the fray in the fifth phase
Keshav Prasad Maurya, who is contesting from Sirathu in Kaushambi, has fielded Pallavi Patel of its alliance partner Apna Dal Kameravadi on its election symbol in view of caste equations to block its path. She is the president of Apna Dal (S) in the BJP alliance and sister of Union Minister Anupriya Patel. Anupriya has also campaigned for the victory of the BJP candidate here.
At the same time, Anupriya Patel’s mother Krishna Patel is in the fray from Pratapgarh Sadar as Apna Dal Kamerawadi candidate. Rural Development Minister Rajendra Pratap Singh alias Moti from Pratapgarh’s Patti seat, MSME Minister Siddharthnath Singh from Allahabad West, Minority Welfare Minister Nand Gopal Nandi from Allahabad South, Social Welfare Minister Ramapati Shastri from Mankapur assembly constituency of Gonda and Public Welfare Department from Chitrakoot Sadar. Minister of State Chandrika Prasad Upadhyay is rocking.
Apart from these ministers, there are also some famous faces. For example, Raghuraj Pratap Singh contested from Kunda and Congress Legislature Party leader Aradhana Mishra “Mona” from Rampur Khas seat. The road is not easy for the Congress in Amethi, because Dr. Sanjay Singh, who was a minister in the central government of the Congress, is contesting from the BJP this time.
There was a huge Modi wave in 2017: In the Modi wave of 2017, out of 61 seats in this phase, the BJP had won 51, while its ally Apna Dal (S) also won two seats. If the SP was reduced to five, the performance of the Congress was worse than the independent candidates. Independents won two, while the Congress had to be content with one seat. The BSP could not even open the account.
23 Assembly seats sensitive: ADG Law and Order Prashant Kumar said that 23 assembly constituencies have been kept in the sensitive category. These include Phaphamau, Soraon, Phulpur, Handia, Meja, Karchana, Allahabad West, Allahabad South, Rampur Khas, Patti, Kunda, Babaganj, Sirathu, Manjhanpur, Gosainganj, Kursi, Ramnagar, Dariyabad, Isauli, Lambhua, Mahsi, Payagpur and Kaiserganj. Huh. 4547 polling places have been considered critical.
