Begusarai. Now Begusarai has also got a big facility for the best treatment of newborn babies. A children’s hospital has been opened here. In this, a large number of newborn children and pregnant women are being given good treatment. The special thing is that there is a shortage of staff in this hospital, despite this the hospital has till now saved the lives of many babies and their mothers.
To reduce the neonatal mortality rate in Bihar, SNCU and MICU facilities have been provided in government hospitals. A 50-bed pediatric hospital has been started in Sadar Hospital, courtesy of Indian Oil Corporation, in Begusarai, 110 km from the capital Patna. This is the largest children’s hospital of Bihar. Here, normal and critical cesarean deliveries are being conducted for women coming from all over Bihar. Modern facilities of OPD, Special New Born Baby Care Unit, SACU, Infant Ward OT have been provided in this hospital building.
Saved the lives of 10 children in 20 days
Dr. Krishna Kumar, Medical Officer of Begusarai Sadar Hospital, told Local 18 that there is a 14-bed SNCU here. Besides, 4 dedicated ventilators and 2 CPEP equipment are also present. On the lines of Delhi AIIMS, children’s lives are also saved through Surfactum therapy. The facility of this therapy has not yet started even in Patna AIIMS. Pediatrician Dr. Krishna Kumar worked on this therapy and saved the lives of 10 children in just 20 days. This is being said to be a major achievement of surface therapy.

Staff shortage still an example
Sources in the hospital say that currently only one Dr. Krishna Kumar is posted in Sadar Hospital for the treatment of children. There is a shortage of nurses and other medical staff here. There is a lot of modern equipment in the hospital, from portable X-ray to PICU, but there is no staff to operate it. Despite this, lives of critical condition children coming from different districts of Bihar are being saved.
