Loan will be available without any guarantee
Small operators of Jan Aushadhi Kendra will be provided loans from SIDBI without any guarantee. He said that this scheme of SIDBI will help the operators of Jan Aushadhi Kendra to start or expand their business. The guarantee on such loans, whether working capital or term loans, is being provided by the Credit Guarantee Fund Trust for Micro and Small Enterprises (CGTMSE). With the opening of Jan Aushadhi Kendras in rural areas, people are now buying generic medicines at affordable rates. For example, cancer medicine which costs around Rs 2,250 in the open market is sold here for Rs 250. Even rural girls can buy sanitary napkins for Re 1 from these centres.
Target to open 25,000 Jan Aushadhi Centers
The government has set a target of opening 25,000 Jan Aushadhi Centers across the country by March 31, 2026. Till January this year, about 10,624 Jan Aushadhi Kendras were operating across the country. About 1,965 generic medicines and 293 surgical products are sold at affordable rates through these Jan Aushadhi Kendras. In the financial year 2022-23, sales of Rs 1,235.95 crore were recorded through these centres, resulting in savings of approximately Rs 7,416 crore to the citizens.
