Residents agitated, picketing in Kotwali agreed after assurance of Tehsildar and station in-charge
Mandsaur (Naiduniya Rep). Shiva Mahapuran Katha is being organized by the residents on the occasion of Mahashivaratri festival at Shri Gangadhar Mahadev Temple located in Chandrapura. People allege that in the meantime, Chandrapal Singh Gautam closed the temple by claiming the temple as his own. Nearby residents were furious due to the locking of the temple. The residents reached the Kotwali police station and demonstrated here. People said that since years we have been worshiping here, now we are being stopped from worshiping here. People alleged that the relatives of BJP State Working Committee member Rajendra Singh Gautam are preventing us from going to the temple. On the other hand, Rajendrasinh Gautam says that we have not locked the temple, Shailendragiri Goswami has locked it. The temple belongs to our ancestors, we have not locked the temple till date. Documents have also been submitted to the administration.
Tehsildar Mukesh Soni reached the Kotwali police station as soon as he got information about the people’s anger. Here Tehsildar and Kotwali station in-charge Amit Soni discussed with the angry people. People said that we are organizing Shiva Mahapuran Katha in the temple. Mangal Geet and other events are to be held on Monday. Congress leader and former councilor representative Shailendragiri Goswami, who was among the angry people, alleged that the relatives of BJP leader Rajendrasinh Gautam, Chandrapasingh Gautam and other relatives have closed the temple. Tehsildar and Kotwali police station in-charge assured the people that after reaching the spot, discussions would be held with all the parties, documents would also be seen. After this people agreed and the lock on the temple was also opened. Mr. Goswami said that till eight o’clock on Monday night, no official from the administration has reached. After the Mahashivratri festival and the conclusion of the story, the assurance of demarcation on March 4 has been given by the Tehsildar.
Two parties had lodged an objection regarding the temple of Bholenathji in Chandrapura. The councilor of the area, Shailendragiri Goswami had told that we do worship, we want to put up a shed there. The dispute is over the land. One side says that the land belongs to them. The other side says that the land is government land. This will be decided by the Tehsildar. If there is government land, then activities will be done as government. If it is found private, then decisions will be taken accordingly.

There is Gangadhar Mahadev Temple in Chandrapura. There is a difference of opinion regarding the ownership of the temple. People say that some people are being prevented from worshiping. All the parties will be called and discussed after visiting the spot. If the temple is public then it will be the right of the people.
Mukesh Soni, Tehsildar, Mandsaur
Gangadhar Mahadev Temple is located in survey number 31 and 32. In survey number 38, 39, the name of the temple is written in measles. Due to revenue error, the temple has not been mentioned in column number 12. The relatives of Rajendra Singh Gautam are coming on the spot and are not allowing worship in the temple. The temple was locked on Monday. Our demand is that if the temple is public, it should be given to the public, if it is private, it should be given to them, if it belongs to the government, then whatever land is there, encroachment should be removed by measuring it. The officials have said to demarcate on March 4.
Shailendra Goswami, former councilor representative
I have not been to Chandrapura for a long time. Shailendragiri Goswami has locked the temple. We never locked the temple. The temple was built by our ancestors. Right now the name of my younger brother Chandrapal Singh Gautam is registered. We have also presented its documents to the administration. The lock and key of the temple remain near Shailendragiri. We got the lock broken on Monday. I have to tell the administration here that if the temple is government, then the administration should take it. If it is ours, it is always open for devotees to see.
