Demand for counting as per rules
After presenting his views before the Election Commission, CPM leader Sitaram Yechury said, we told the commission that counting should be done as per the rules and the observers should implement these rules. Counting should be monitored through CCTV and the control unit should be verified. The data coming from the machine should be confirmed. Yechury said that when the EVM is sealed, there are counting agents to verify it and it should be reconfirmed during counting.
Counting of EVMs after counting of post ballots
Abhishek Manu Singhvi said that we, the leaders of the alliance, have come together to the Election Commission for the third time. Postal ballots change the election results, the Election Commission has a provision that the postal ballots will be counted first. We also say that the postal ballots should be counted first, then the EVMs should be counted. But the result of the postal ballots should be declared first, then the EVM results should come.
Strict monitoring during counting
Meanwhile, Congress leader Salman Khurshid said, ‘We requested for very strict monitoring during the counting process and they gave us a satisfactory answer. We did not question any rules, but ensured that they are followed and followed honestly. The meeting was very promising.’
