Joe Biden and Narendra Modi
Washington: The United States has praised the Indian government and the people of the country for successfully conducting the Lok Sabha elections. The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has crossed the majority mark for the Lok Sabha and Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going to form the government for the third consecutive time. However, the BJP has lost a large number of seats in three Hindi speaking states. The Election Commission of India has released the final results for all 543 Lok Sabha constituencies, in which the Bharatiya Janata Party has been declared victorious on 240 seats and the Congress on 99 seats.
Congratulations to the people of India
US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller said in a regular press conference on Tuesday, “On behalf of America, we congratulate the Indian government and its voters for successfully organizing and participating in such a large election.” He said, “I will not comment on who won and lost the election as is done all over the world. What is important for us is that we have seen the largest exercise of democracy in history during the last six weeks, where the people of India came out of their homes to vote.”
refused to interfere
Matthew Miller also denied all reports of interference in India’s elections by Western countries including the US. At the same time, the Board of America-India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF), an India-focused trade and business group in the US, said on Tuesday, “Our organization congratulates the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) for its historic victory for the third consecutive time in the 2024 general elections.” In a statement, the USISPF board also congratulated the citizens of India for adding another new chapter to the country’s “glorious democratic history”.
