Voting for the fourth phase of Lok Sabha elections in the country took place today and now voting for the fifth phase of the elections will be held on May 20. This time Lok Sabha elections are being held in seven phases. The first phase of voting took place on April 19 and the last phase of voting will be held on June 1, while on June 4, the votes will be counted and the results will be declared. The nomination process for the fifth phase of voting has been completed. Meanwhile, the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) has analyzed the affidavits of the candidates contesting in the fifth phase. A total of 695 candidates are in the fray in this phase.
According to an analysis by ADR, women’s representation in the ongoing Lok Sabha elections remains disappointingly low, as only 12% of the women candidates in the fray in the fifth phase are out of a total of 695 candidates in the fifth phase on May 20, ADR said. Only 82 are women.
ADR analysis also revealed that about 23% of the candidates have declared criminal cases against themselves and about 18% have serious criminal cases pending against them. In an analysis released on Monday, ADR said that out of 695 candidates in the first phase, 159 have criminal cases registered against them. There are 227 candidates who are crorepatis.
What is there in ADR report?
Out of 695 candidates, 159 i.e. 23 percent have criminal cases pending against them, out of which 122 i.e. 16 percent candidates have serious criminal cases registered against them. Three candidates have declared convicted cases against themselves, four candidates have declared cases related to murder (IPC-302) while 28 candidates have declared cases related to attempt to murder (IPC-307) against themselves. . There are 29 candidates who have declared cases related to atrocities on women. Out of these 29, a case related to rape (IPC-376) is registered against one candidate. Apart from this, cases related to provocative speech are registered against 10 candidates.
How many candidates of which party have criminal background?
Talking about the fifth phase, five out of 10 SP candidates have criminal cases registered against them. At the same time, three out of six from Shiv Sena, two out of four from AIMIM, 19 out of 40 from BJP, 8 out of 18 from Congress, three out of 7 from TMC, three out of 8 from Shiv Sena (UBT) and 5 from RJD. There are criminal cases registered against one of the candidates.

Out of 695 candidates in the fifth phase, 33 percent i.e. 227 candidates are crorepatis, out of which 36 BJP candidates are crorepatis. Two out of four candidates of Owaisi’s party AIMIM are crorepatis. These candidates have declared assets worth more than one crore. In the fifth phase, each candidate has assets worth an average of Rs 3.56 crore. A candidate has declared his assets as nil. Whereas three candidates have declared their assets as Rs 67, Rs 700 and Rs 5427 respectively.
Who is the richest candidate?
The richest candidate in the fifth phase is Anurag Sharma from Jhansi, UP, whose net worth is Rs 212 crore. In second place is Nilesh Bhagwan Sambhare, who is contesting as an independent candidate from Bhiwandi seat of Maharashtra. Sambhare has declared assets worth Rs 116 crore in his affidavit. The third richest candidate is Union Minister and BJP candidate Piyush Goyal, contesting from Mumbai North seat of Maharashtra. Goyal’s assets are worth Rs 110 crore.
Educational qualification and age of the candidates
Talking about educational qualification, 293 i.e. 42 percent candidates have studied only between 5th and 12th, while 349 i.e. 50 percent candidates have declared their educational qualification as graduation and above. 26 candidates are diploma holders and 20 candidates are literate while five candidates are also illiterate. Talking about age, 207 i.e. 30 percent candidates are between 25 to 40 years, while 384 i.e. 55 percent candidates are between 41 to 60 years. The age of 103 i.e. 15 percent candidates is 61 to 80 years. One candidate has stated his age as 82 years.
