New Delhi. After the formation of the central government and the distribution of departments in the cabinet, now the calculations are going on regarding the Lok Sabha Speaker. In such a situation, now there is a discussion that the opposition can also field its candidate in the election for the post of Lok Sabha Speaker. According to sources, Congress has demanded the post of Deputy Speaker from the opposition. Now if this demand is not fulfilled then the opposition can field its candidate for the post of Lok Sabha Speaker. The election for the post of Lok Sabha Speaker is to be held on June 26.
Let us tell you that the discussion on the post of Lok Sabha Speaker had started even before the formation of the NDA government. It was being said that BJP’s ally TDP has demanded that the post of Lok Sabha Speaker be given to its party leader. At the same time, speculations were also being made that JDU President Nitish Kumar has also put a similar condition in front of PM Narendra Modi. However, both TDP and JDU have given a statement that we are a part of NDA and will remain in NDA with full strength in future too. Whoever BJP nominates for the post of Lok Sabha Speaker, both TDP and JDU will support him.
Earlier in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, BJP had crossed the majority mark on its own. The same situation was in the 2014 Lok Sabha election results, even then BJP came to power with an absolute majority. Therefore, in both these terms of the Lok Sabha, BJP played openly for the post of Speaker and made whoever it wanted as the Speaker. But in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, BJP remained far from the majority figure. To form the government, the help of other parties included in the NDA had to be taken. This time the opposition is also stronger than the first two elections, in such a situation BJP will have to form a consensus with all the parties.
