LSG vs MI: In the 48th match of IPL 2024, Lucknow Super Giants team has defeated Mumbai Indians by four wickets. In this match, the bowlers and batsmen performed amazingly for Lucknow. In the match, Lucknow won the toss and decided to bowl first. Mumbai Indians gave Lucknow a target of 144 runs to win, which Lucknow easily achieved. Marcus Stoinis played a strong innings for Lucknow and it was because of him that Lucknow team was successful in winning the match.
Stoinis played a stormy innings
KL Rahul and impact player Arshin Kulkarni came to open for Lucknow Super Giants. But Kulkarni could not take advantage of the big opportunity and returned to the pavilion without opening the account. Then Rahul and Marcus Stoinis batted excellently. Rahul was out after scoring 28 runs. Deepak Hooda scored 18 runs. Marcus Stoinis has single-handedly led the Lucknow Super Giants team to victory. He scored 62 runs in 45 balls, which included 7 fours and 2 sixes. No bowler from Mumbai Indians could leave any impact. Jasprit Bumrah definitely gave 17 runs in 4 overs. But he could not take the wicket. Captain Hardik Pandya took two wickets. Nuwan Thushara, Gerald Coetzee and Mohammad Nabi took one wicket each.
Mumbai Indians had a bad start
On the basis of disciplined performance by their bowlers, Lucknow Super Giants restricted Mumbai Indians to 144 runs for seven wickets. Sent in to bat first, Mumbai lost four wickets in the powerplay itself. Mumbai’s top order failed miserably and four wickets fell for 28 runs in the first six overs. Mumbai had a very bad start. When captain Rohit Sharma returned to the pavilion after scoring only 4 runs. Suryakumar Yadav scored 10 runs and Tilak Verma scored 7 runs.
Mumbai Indians’ batting flopped
After four wickets fell in the powerplay, Nehal Wadhera and Ishan Kishan tried to get the team out of the difficult situation. Nehal Wadhera (46) and Ishan (32) could not give a big score to the team even after making a partnership of 53 runs for the fifth wicket. Tim David scored 35 runs in 18 balls which included 17 runs scored in the last over. This is the second lowest score in the powerplay this season. Rohit Sharma was dismissed by Mohsin Khan while the wicket of Suryakumar Yadav was taken by Marcus Stoinis. Tilak Verma lost his wicket on an accurate throw by Ravi Bishnoi. Naveenul Haq did not even give captain Hardik Pandya a chance to open his account.
Lucknow used Stoinis well in the powerplay, who took one wicket for 19 runs in three overs. Ashton Turner took the catch of Ishan Kishan at deep square leg on the ball of fast bowler Mayank Yadav, who was returning after recovering from injury. With seven overs left, Ishan lost his wicket on Bishnoi’s googly. While Vadhera thrashed Yadav in the 15th over, he hit two sixes and a four. For Lucknow, Marcus Stoinis, Naveen Ul Haq, Mayank Yadav and Ravi Bishnoi took one wicket each. Two wickets went to Mohis Khan’s account.
Lucknow reached top-3
Lucknow Super Giants team defeated Mumbai Indians by four wickets. With this victory, Lucknow team has reached third position in the points table. Earlier, Lucknow team was at fifth position. Now the team has gained two places by registering a win against Mumbai. Lucknow has played 10 matches in the current season, out of which it has won 6 and the team has faced defeat in four. Mumbai Indians have played 10 matches, out of which they have won three and the team is at number 9.
