At a special conference organized on the Waqf law at the state headquarters of the Bharatiya Janata Party on Wednesday, senior leaders of the party discussed various aspects related to the law and tried to remove the misconceptions prevailing in the society. On this occasion, Rajasthan BJP state president Madan Rathore gave an important statement that “The situation that is in West Bengal is keeping an eye on it. It is our primary responsibility to give security to every citizen, and whatever appropriate steps have to be taken for it, they will be taken.”
BJP’s position on Waqf law
During the conference, issues like transparency, management and alleged misuse of Waqf law were discussed in detail. Madan Rathore said that at present many questions are being raised about the operation and maintenance of Waqf properties. He said that the BJP respects the religious rights of any community, but if any law is being misused or social imbalance is arising due to it, it is necessary to fix it.
He also said that the intention of the government is neither to snatch anyone’s rights, nor to target a particular class, but to give equal rights and security to every citizen.
Comments on Bengal’s position
In his address, Madan Rathore, while special mention of the situation in West Bengal, said that the law and order situation there is worrying, and the central government is fully cautious on this. He said that it is the responsibility of the Central Government to ensure the safety of every religion, caste or community, whether it is from any religion, caste or community.
Rathore alleged that due to the politics of appeasement in Bengal and administrative negligence, the common citizen feels insecure. He also indicated that if needed, the central government would not back down from making necessary intervention there.
Political message
Before the upcoming elections in Rajasthan, the BJP organizes such conferences and speaking directly on issues related to the minority community is considered part of the party’s strategic preparation. The increasing debate over the Waqf law as well as the strict stance on the position of Bengal has launched a new discussion in political circles.
