In Vidisha district of Madhya Pradesh, a case of scam worth crores came against the CEO of Sironj Janpad Panchayat. A complaint was lodged by the EOW regarding the incident. When the marriage was closed due to the lockdown, he had distributed Rs 18 crore among the bride and groom of 3500 girls. Vidisha SDM Shobhit Tripathi, as the Chief Executive Officer of Sironj Janpad Panchayat, carried out a scam worth crores under the marriage assistance scheme.
Tripathi distributed the money of this important scheme among those who did not deserve it. Scheme money was also given to many fake beneficiaries. The EOW has registered a case against Tripathi under sections like corruption, embezzlement, cheating. According to sources, the collector of Vidisha conducted a high-level inquiry, in which all the allegations were proved correct. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has also expressed displeasure on this matter.
The issue was echoed in the assembly as well. According to sources, BJP MLA Umakant Sharma himself had brought this matter to the assembly. He said that CEO Tripathi had distributed crores of rupees to fake beneficiaries during the Corona period under the marriage assistance scheme.
Investigations conducted by the authorities revealed that when there was a lockdown and public marriages were not allowed. At that time CEO Shobhit Tripathi distributed 18 crore 52 lakh 32 thousand rupees in the name of marriage assistance to about 3500 beneficiaries between 1 April 2020 and 30 June 2021.
The government scheme provides financial assistance for marriage to construction workers and their families. But for this, registration of those workers with the Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board is necessary. In which a total of 51 thousand rupees are given. There were complaints of rampant corruption in the scheme.
