Shiva is pleased with water…the wishes of the people are fulfilled.
According to Jyotirvid Pt. Anandshankar Vyas, at the time of churning of the ocean, the gods drank nectar and Shiva drank Garal (poison). Shiva’s Jalabhishek is important for quenching the heat (heat) of the poison. By offering water, Shiva is pleased and fulfills the wishes of the devotees. Darshan of Shiva is considered incomplete without Jalabhishek. In the month of Vaishakh, when the heat increases, there is a law to tie Galantika (earthen pot) on the Shivlings in the temples.
