The ED on Wednesday questioned Malik, Maharashtra’s Minority Affairs Minister and NCP’s chief spokesperson, in a money laundering case. He was arrested after interrogation that lasted for about six hours. After this, the members of Maha Vikas Aghadi government of Maharashtra i.e. Shiv Sena, NCP and Congress have opposed this action and called it politics of revenge. On the other hand, BJP has advised that if you find the action wrong, then approach the court.
Maharashtra Congress President Nana Patole on Wednesday claimed that the ED’s questioning of NCP leader Nawab Malik, a minister in the state government, was done out of vendetta. The need of the hour was to unite and fight against their strategy to silence political opponents, he said.
Patole said in Mumbai that Congress is with Malik. He has been raising his voice against the anti-people policies of the BJP and the arrogance of power. “We will discuss such actions of central investigative agencies and fight unitedly against the silencing tactics of political opponents,” he said.
The Congress leader also accused the BJP of defaming Maharashtra for power. Let us inform that there is a coalition government in Maharashtra under the leadership of Shiv Sena President and Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray. This Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government consists of Congress and NCP (Nationalist Congress Party) along with Shiv Sena.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Wednesday questioned Malik, Maharashtra’s Minority Affairs Minister and chief spokesperson of the NCP, in a money laundering case. According to officials, this case is related to the activities of underworld don and fugitive gangster Dawood Ibrahim and his associates.
BJP said, if the action seems wrong then go to courtMeanwhile, Maharashtra BJP President Chandrakant Patil reacted sharply to these allegations in Pune. Talking to the media, he said that if the NCP and other members of the MVA feel that the action taken by the ED is an abuse of power, they can move the court demanding justice.
Patil said, “Injustice is happening to us for the last 27 months, but when our 12 MLAs were suspended, we went to court and we got justice. Similarly, if they feel that harassment is taking place, they should approach the court. During this, he also mentioned Anil Deshmukh.
The BJP leader said that when former Maharashtra Home Minister and NCP leader Anil Deshmukh was arrested, there was a similar outcry. But later it all came to an end. He also claimed that Deshmukh has said that if I open my mouth, it will be very costly for the MVA.
Simultaneously, Patil demanded Malik’s resignation saying, “After his arrest, Malik has no moral or legal right to continue as a cabinet minister.” I would like to request Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray to take a decision on his resignation at the earliest.
Pawar said – Malik is getting punishment for raising his voiceEarlier, NCP chief Sharad Pawar also said today that Malik was being harassed because he was speaking about the misuse of the central government and central probe agencies. He said that when I was the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, then attempts were being made to create a similar atmosphere against me.
Pawar said, ‘What case has he started? It’s a simple matter. If there is a Muslim activist (against whom a case is initiated) they take the name of Dawood… (between the worker concerned and the underworld) there is no connection but even after that it is done.’
On Pawar’s remark, Patil accused the NCP chief of promoting casteism. He said, ‘Sometimes he does this to Maratha and non-Maratha people. Sometimes he does this to minorities and non-minorities. But the public understands such politics going on for the last 50 years.
Maharashtra has not bowed down to the Centre: Sule
NCP’s Lok Sabha member Supriya Sule said that Maharashtra has never bowed before the Center and will never bow down. He claimed that the ED notice has been issued only to the opposition leaders. Without naming anyone, Sule taunted that if you join BJP, these notices will disappear.
He said some BJP leaders had predicted arrests and raids against political opponents. We will raise this issue with Union Home Minister Amit Shah during the next session of Parliament. Sule said, we are soldiers of Chhatrapati. Maharashtra has never bowed before Delhi and will never bow down.
Investigative agencies acting like mafia: Raut
Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut has also called Malik’s arrest as politics of revenge. He said, ‘The whole country is watching what is happening in Maharashtra. Central investigative agencies are targeting political opponents of BJP like any mafia. This is a challenge for the Maharashtra government but the truth will come out and the fight will continue.
Raut said that the work of targeting people by removing old cases will continue till 2024. After that they (BJP) will have to face the consequences. He also said that I have spoken to all the senior leaders of the MVA government. Along with this, he also claimed that he will soon expose the work of central investigative agencies.
