Raipur (Naiduniya Representative). Mahashivratri 2022: In the scriptures, the festival of Mahashivratri has been called the meeting festival of Lord Shiva and Shakti. It is considered best to worship Mahashivratri in the four hours of the night. On the day when Trayodashi-Chaturdashi Tithi coincides, Mahashivratri Puja should be performed on the same day. This time on March 1, Mahashivratri will be celebrated in the combination of Trayodashi-Chaturdashi with five planets i.e. Panchagrahi conjunction.
have one meal a day before
According to Jyotishacharya Pt. Abhirishi Sharma, one day before Mahashivratri, devotees should take food at one time on Trayodashi Tithi. On the day of Shivratri, after doing daily work in the morning, one should take a resolution for fasting for the whole day. During Sankalp, devotees should repeat their vows to themselves and seek the blessings of Lord Shiva for a smooth completion of the fast.
fasting after sunrise
According to P.Sharma, on Shivratri, devotees should worship only after taking evening bath and must visit the temple to see the Shiva idol or Shivling. Worship of Lord Shiva should be done at night and the next day after taking bath, the fast should be broken.
To get the full results of the fast, the fast should be ended only between sunrise and the setting of Chaturdashi Tithi. According to another belief, the exact time to end the fast is said to be after Chaturdashi Tithi. Both the concepts are contradictory. But, it is believed that both Shiva Puja and Parana (the end of the fast) should be done before the Chaturdashi Tithi sets in.
