Dantewada. The historical Phagun Mandai of South Bastar started with the installation of Kalash on Wednesday. As per tradition, Maiji’s first palanquin will be taken out in the evening. Late in the evening there will also be a payment for the Tadamphalanga Dhoni ceremony. The process of removing Maiji Ki Doli Chhatra will continue for a full 10 days from today. The program of Ganvarmar will be held on March 15, while the big fair will be held on March 16. From today onwards, the process of reaching the umbrellas and sticks of deities from different villages to attend the fair has also started.

This morning the priests and servitors of Mai Danteshwari temple were busy with devotion in the temple premises for the Kalash establishment ceremony. Traditionally, the umbrella and lath of Maa Danteshwari were taken out from the temple at 11 o’clock in the presence of the head priest, sevadar and 12 lankwars. The umbrella and stick were saluted by the five police personnel at the entrance of the temple. After this, Maiji’s umbrella was brought to the Mavli Mata Devi site located in Medka Dobra, playing drums with musical instruments as per tradition. Where again the soldiers were fired with joy and salute was given to the umbrella and lath of Mother Danteshwari Devi.
At the same time, Maiji’s umbrella and stick were brought inside the Devi temple by the priest, where the Kalash was lit by performing rituals. With the establishment of the Kalash, the famous Phagun Mandai of Dakshin Bastar, which lasted for ten days, started. Traditionally, the first doli of Maiji will be taken out from Maa Danteshwari temple with the deities invited in the evening, amidst the echo of Baja Mohri and with the applause by the servitors.
After leaving the temple, the doli will reach the Narayan temple located on the banks of the historic Danteshwari Sarovar in the city, where according to tradition, the doli will be saluted by the soldiers with joy. After which Doli will be worshipped. Afterwards, the doli will be brought back to the temple with full law. This historical festival related to the faith, tradition and reverence of the tribals will go on for 10 days from today. Doli will be taken out every day in the evening and hunting tradition will be followed. During the establishment of the urn, there were hundreds of traditional servitors including the temple priests, tehsildars, sevadars, manjhis, chalkis, katiyars, tudpas, samarats, and hundreds of villagers who came from the villages.
