Bhubaneswar: A major accident has come to light in Jharsuguda. Here, 7 people have died due to a name reversal in Mahanadi. It is being told that this accident happened near Pathar Seni temple. Information is also coming out that 50 to 60 people were aboard this boat. In such a situation, many people are still reported missing due to the boat capsizing in the river.
Relief and rescue operations continue
The dead and missing persons have not been identified yet. As soon as information about the matter was received, the police administration also reached the spot. At present, along with the administrative staff, local people are also busy searching for the missing people. Along with the police team, the rescue team has also reached the spot. Relief and rescue work is still being done.
Accident happened near Sharda Ghat
It is being told that all these people were going from Tharseni Kuda to Banjipalli in Bargarh district. A police officer said the accident occurred when the boat was about to reach Sharda Ghat under Rengali police station in Jharsuguda district. He said that local fishermen rescued 35 people and brought them to the shore.
CM announced compensation
Seven more people were later rescued by police and fire department personnel, the official said. He said that seven more people are still missing and an operation is being conducted to search for them. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has announced an ex-gratia of Rs 4 lakh each for the families of the deceased and five divers have been sent to the spot. (input- agency)
