New Delhi . Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said on Friday that since 2014, there has been an increase of 60 percent of India’s engineering goods.
Highlighting the success of the ‘Make in India’ initiative, Union Minister Goyal credited the government’s focused efforts in the last decade.
Union Minister Goyal posted on the social media platform X, “India has been moving forward under the Modi government since 2014! There has been a 60 percent increase in export of engineering goods, which shows the strong success of ‘Make in India’.”
This increase in engineering exports has occurred at a time when India’s comprehensive industrial performance is also continuously registering improvements.
According to the previous data of the Ministry of Statistics, industrial production increased by 2.7 percent in April 2025 on an annual basis.
A major pillar of India’s economic growth, the manufacturing sector recorded an increase of 3.4 percent in April, which is better than a 3 percent increase in March. In this growth, areas such as basic metal, motor vehicle and machinery were among the most contributing areas. The manufacture of machinery and equipment alone increased by 17 percent, indicating strong demand in both domestic and export markets.
There was a rapid growth of 20.3 percent in the production of equipment used in industrial and infrastructure projects. This not only indicates high investment activity, but also supports long -term employment generation and income growth.
Consumer demand also remains strong, the production of durable items such as electronics and equipment has increased by 6.4 percent. Promoting India’s infrastructure has boosted industrial development.
The area of infrastructure and construction goods increased by 4 percent in April, inspired by major government expenses on highways, railways and ports.
With the increase in global demand for quality engineering products, the improvement in industrial production and export performance of India is being seen as a positive signal for the economy.
