How to make Semolina Upma

What can I say if I get to eat something tasty along with healthy in the evening snack! So, if you are also looking for a healthy dish full of taste, then you can make semolina upma in the evening. This famous dish of South India is also delicious and beneficial for health. The best thing is that you can prepare this recipe in just minutes. Especially, if you are on a weight loss journey, then this recipe is very beneficial for you. So, let us tell you how to make semolina or Rava upma.

Ingredients for making Semolina Upma

Semolina – one cup, oil – 2 teaspoons, onion – 1, tomato – 1, capsicum – 1, carrot – 1, beans – two to three, salt according to taste, coriander leaves

Ingredients for seasoning semolina upma

1 tsp chana dal, 1 tsp mustard seeds, 2 green chillies, 4-5 curry leaves

How to make Semolina Upma

  • Step 1: To make upma, first turn on the gas and place a pan on it and add 1 teaspoon oil. Now add 1 cup semolina in it and fry it till it becomes light golden brown. When the semolina is fried, take it out in another plate and keep it aside.

  • Second step: Now again add one big spoon of butter or oil in that pan. Now temper it with 1 tsp chana dal, 1 tsp mustard and 4-5 curry leaves. After that add two green chilies and curry leaves. Now add finely chopped onion and fry till it turns brown. When the semolina turns golden brown, mix beans, carrots, capsicum and tomatoes together. Now fry the vegetables well till they are cooked. Now add salt as per taste. Now cover them and cook for few minutes.

  • Third Step: When the vegetables are cooked well, add roasted semolina and mix. After some time, add hot water and let it cook again. Finally, garnish the upma with finely chopped coriander. The tasty South Indian dish upma is ready to serve.
