These antibodies protect the child from diseases until the child reaches adulthood. During pregnancy, women must get the Tdap i.e. tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis (whooping cough) vaccine, so that the child can be protected from these diseases. Apart from this, it is important to get the flu vaccine, because this vaccine can be given to the child only after 6 months. In such a situation, to protect from flu, this vaccine should be given during pregnancy itself.

According to health experts, limited vaccines are given to women during pregnancy. Flu vaccine, tetanus (Tdap), hepatitis vaccine are given during pregnancy because these are dead vaccines. Vaccines containing live virus or bacteria are not given because it can worsen the condition of the pregnant woman.
