This will be his first visit to India after becoming President
This will be Mo Muizzu’s first visit to India after becoming the President of Maldives. However, Muizzu is considered a supporter of China. After becoming the President, he broke tradition and visited China first instead of India. Apart from this, by deciding to remove Indian troops from Maldives, he sowed the seeds of tension with India. However, later his stance started softening. So on the third consecutive victory of BJP and NDA, Muizzu had said on ‘X’, “Congratulations to Modi, BJP and BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) for getting success for the third consecutive time in the 2024 general elections.” He had said, “I want to work together to advance our common interests for the prosperity and stability of both the countries.
