Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge said something big on Thursday. He said in passing that if there had been a little more play in the last Lok Sabha elections, Rahul Gandhi would have been the PM of the country today instead of Narendra Modi. Calling upon the workers to work hard to ensure victory in the upcoming assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir, he said that if the party had got 25 more seats in some states in the Lok Sabha elections, Rahul Gandhi would have become the Prime Minister.
He said that the party’s goal is to restore the state’s status and oust Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP from power. Kharge criticized Prime Minister Modi for making Jammu and Kashmir a Union Territory and said that he is arrogant despite his poor performance in the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections.
He told party workers here, “We may not have won a seat from here in the parliamentary elections, but the Indian National Democratic Inclusive Alliance (IND) has won many seats from here. If we had got five seats each in Jammu and Kashmir, Madhya Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh and other states… if we had got a total of 25 seats, our leader Rahul Gandhi would have become the Prime Minister.”
Urging party workers to work hard, Kharge said, “So we should work hard. It is important to win. Victory cannot be achieved by just talking. If we keep talking without working on the ground, we will not win.”
