The second phase of voting in the Lok Sabha elections 2024 has ended. Candidates have also started filing nominations for the fifth phase of voting. Meanwhile, Rajendra Prasad of Kerala remains in the news. When the 78-year-old man from Kollam seat came to cast his vote on Friday, everyone who saw him was surprised.
To vote in the government school of Ijhukon, Rajendra Prasad asked for a maxi from the woman living in his neighbourhood. Also took shawl, necklace and earrings from her. After wearing all this, he put on sun-protecting glasses and went to vote. According to the report of news website Manorama, Rajendra reached the polling booth with a copy of the Constitution of India in his hand.
What happened in the polling booth?
When Rajendra Prasad came to vote in this hall, everyone kept looking at him. He is a retired librarian of the Panchayat and lives alone. In such a situation, no one was able to understand his attire. The polling officials were also a little surprised, but when Prasad showed his documents, the officials allowed him to cast his vote.
Why did you do this?
Rajendra was mistakenly shown as a woman in the voter list. She was also shown as a woman in her voter slip. For this reason he did this as a form of protest. She said, “The Election Commission has declared me a woman, so I thought I should follow it properly.” Voting was completed on all 20 Lok Sabha seats in Kerala on Friday. Along with Kerala, voting has ended in Rajasthan also. However, re-polling is to be held on some seats of Manipur. Due to violence during voting here, the date of voting has been fixed for the fourth time. Earlier, voting had taken place here on 19th April, 23rd April and 26th April.
