Lucknow. SP MP from Sultanpur, UP, Ram Bhual Nishad’s membership may be in danger. Maneka Gandhi, who was the BJP candidate from Sultanpur, has filed a petition in the Lucknow Bench of Allahabad High Court against the election of Ram Bhual Nishad. This petition is likely to be heard on July 30.
Maneka Gandhi has been continuously elected as MP from Sultanpur Lok Sabha seat. This time Rambhual Nishad defeated Maneka Gandhi in the Lok Sabha elections on SP ticket. Maneka Gandhi got 401156 votes and SP’s Rambhual Nishad got 444330 votes. As a result, Maneka Gandhi lost by 43174 votes. Now Maneka Gandhi has challenged the election of Rambhual Nishad and filed an application in the Lucknow Bench of Allahabad High Court alleging that the SP MP did not give information about all the criminal cases against him while filing the nomination. According to the information, Maneka Gandhi filed this application by appearing in the registry of the High Court on Saturday.
In her petition, Maneka Gandhi has alleged that Rambhual Nishad has 12 criminal cases against him, but while filing the nomination for the Lok Sabha elections 2024, he has mentioned only 8 criminal cases in the affidavit. Maneka Gandhi has also said in the petition that SP MP Rambhual Nishad did not even give the information in the affidavit that chargesheet has been filed against him in 4 of these criminal cases. Maneka Gandhi has said in the petition that the 4 criminal cases which Rambhual Nishad hid are registered in Gorakhpur and Barhalganj police stations. Maneka Gandhi has demanded the cancellation of Rambhual Nishad’s election on this basis. Under the Representation of the People Act, every candidate has to file an affidavit during the election and give many information. If any discrepancy is found in these, the election can also be canceled.
