Manipur: 6 members of Arambai Teengol arrested in case of attack on senior police officer

Imphal . Six more accused have been arrested in connection with the incident on June 9 in Bishnupur district of Manipur. All the accused associated with the Maetai community are members of ‘Arambai Teengol’. The Manipur police on Wednesday confirmed the arrest of the accused. Police said a senior police officer and a policeman were attacked in Bishnupur district during ‘bandh’ on 9 June. The attack was reportedly involved in several members of the Metai organization ‘Arambai Teengol’. The Manipur police on Wednesday confirmed that these arrests were made on Tuesday. The ‘Arambai Teengol’ members between 18 and 26 years of age will be produced in court on Wednesday.
The Manipur police shared the photo of the accused and stated their identity. A post on the social media platform ‘X’ wrote, “6 members of ‘Arambai Teengol’ have been arrested in connection with the incident on the police officer and policeman on 9 June.
The arrested accused include 26 -year -old Sanahal Singh alias Sana, 20 -year -old Rishikant Singh, 18 -year -old Premchand alias Kandrang, 23 -year -old Nongamba Singh, 28 -year -old Rabichandra alias Rabi and 22 -year -old Jaswant Singh. The three accused belong to Govindgram Avang Leicai of Imphal, one accused is from Terakhongsangbi of Bishnupur and the other from Laurembum Manna Leicai. Another accused Rabichandra alias Rabi is a resident of Kangmong Masnam Leicai of Western Imphal.
On the other hand, Manipur police and security forces also arrested 6 active cadres of banned militant organization KCP (PWG) from Bishnupur and Imphal West districts. These cadres include Latzam Ramkanta Metai aka Bothe, the area commander of the organization. More than 15 cadres are working under him. Police said that intensive search operation is going on to search for the remaining cadres.
According to the police, the two cadres arrested in Bishnupur were working to raise funds by making illegal recovery from the general public and traders in the Nambol area.
