New Delhi. The fire of violence that broke out due to caste conflicts in Manipur has not completely subsided yet. Earlier, Union Home Minister Amit Shah had tweeted, ‘It is my sincere appeal to the people of Manipur to remove the blockade on the Imphal-Dimapur, NH2 highway, so that food, medicines, petrol/diesel, and other essential goods can reach the people. ‘ Along with this, he had said, ‘I also request that civil society organizations take necessary steps to build a consensus. Together we all can restore normalcy in this beautiful state.
But in the meantime violence has once again flared up in Manipur. It is being reported quoting army officials that between June 5-6 there was a shootout between the security forces and the militants. In the firing, a Border Security Force (BSF) jawan was killed and two Assam Rifles jawans received bullet injuries. After the encounter, a continuous search operation is being conducted by the security forces in Manipur’s Sugnu-Sero.
