New Delhi. Former Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia, accused in the liquor scam, could not get relief from the trial court again. Manish Sisodia and another accused Sanjay Singh appeared in the court through video conferencing on Friday. The court extended Manish Sisodia’s judicial custody till July 3, the next hearing date. At the same time, Judge Kaveri Baveja directed the ED to give a copy of the charge sheet to Sanjay Singh and K. Kavitha in the liquor scam case.
Manish Sisodia was arrested in February 2023 in the liquor scam case. In between, the court allowed him to come out of jail to meet his wife and attend a relative’s wedding, but since then Manish Sisodia has not got any relief. Recently, Manish Sisodia had applied for bail in the Delhi High Court. In the High Court, Judge Swarn Kanta Sharma rejected his bail application. However, the Delhi High Court did give this much relief that on the basis of the conditions of the trial court, Manish Sisodia can meet his ailing wife every week.

Manish Sisodia has been getting setbacks from the courts before this. The Supreme Court had rejected Manish Sisodia’s curative petition twice. The Supreme Court had definitely said that if the trial of the liquor scam proceeds slowly, then after 3 months Manish Sisodia can appeal for bail from the trial court on this basis. On April 30 also, Manish Sisodia’s bail plea was rejected by the trial court. Earlier also the trial court had rejected Manish Sisodia’s bail plea. At the same time, Sanjay Singh who was arrested in this case has got relief. Whereas, K. Kavita is also still in jail. Whereas, Arvind Kejriwal was given bail by the Supreme Court for election campaign, but on June 2, he too has to surrender in Tihar Jail.
