New Delhi. The matter of disqualifying Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat from Paris Olympics was also raised in the House today. Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, while talking about this entire episode in detail, said that the Indian Olympic Association has lodged a strong protest with the United World Wrestling (UWW). Along with this, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has spoken to the President of the Indian Olympic Association PT Usha and has asked for appropriate action in this matter.

The Sports Minister said that today Vinesh’s weight was found to be 50 kg 100 grams and hence she was disqualified. Earlier on Tuesday, Vinesh became the first Indian female wrestler to reach the final of Olympic wrestling by winning three matches. Mandaviya said that as far as assistance for Vinesh’s preparation is concerned, the Government of India has provided every possible facility to Vinesh Phogat as per her requirement. A personal staff of experts has also been made available for her. A renowned coach from Hungary and a physiotherapist are always with her. Meanwhile, Wrestling Federation of India President Sanjay Singh said that this matter is very serious and we are deciding what to do next. We are thinking about the legal process.
