India’s Manu Bhaker has performed brilliantly in Paris Olympics 2024. She has won a bronze medal for India in 10 meter air pistol and hoisted the tricolor in Paris. She is the first Indian female shooter to win an Olympic medal for India in shooting. This is also India’s first medal in Paris Olympics 2024.

8 women shooters were in the fray for the medal in 10 meter air pistol. Manu secured the third position and won the medal. Manu scored a total of 221.7. She scored 50.4 in the first stage and then her score reached 101.7 in the second stage. The first two positions were occupied by Korean players. South Korea’s Oh Ye Jin scored 243.2. She remained at number one and won the gold medal. Kim Yeji was at number two, whose score was 241.3.

Manu Bhaker was a big contender to win a medal in the Tokyo Olympics. Then her pistol malfunctioned and she could not win a medal. But she has made up for the loss of Tokyo in Paris and created history by winning a medal. Before her, no Indian female shooter had won a medal in the Olympics. Now she has made this record in her name.

Had a strong performance in the qualification round

All the shooters got a chance to play a total of 6 series in the qualification round in which the top-8 players finally confirmed their place for the medal event. In this, 22-year-old Manu Bhaker scored 97 points out of 100 in the first series. After this, 97 in the second series, while after the completion of three series, Manu had 292 points out of 300. Manu scored 96 points continuously in the last three series and confirmed her place for the final.
