Manu Bhaker Paris Olympics 2024: India’s medal account has been opened in Paris Olympics 2024. Young shooter Manu Bhaker has won the bronze medal in 10 meter air pistol in shooting. She is the first Indian woman to win a medal in shooting in the history of Olympics. She finished third in the final round. Manu won the bronze medal with a score of 221.7 in the final round of eight shooters.

Manu Bhaker said this

After winning the medal, Manu Bhaker said that I tried very hard. I was fighting with all my energy, even at the end. It is bronze but I am happy that I could win a bronze medal for the country. I have read a lot of Gita. As Lord Krishna says, focus on action, not on the result of action. That’s what I did. I thought do your work and let everything happen. I was very disappointed after Tokyo. But I made a good comeback. Let the past remain in the past. To be honest, I cannot tell how good I am feeling today.

The pistol malfunctioned in the Tokyo Olympics

Manu Bhaker, who came out of the shooting range crying after her pistol malfunctioned in her first Olympics in Tokyo three years ago, wrote a new definition of fighting spirit and courage and healed all those wounds with a medal in Paris and also became an example for every player. When her name was announced for the third place in the close final, there was a smile of relief on her face and also a pang that if she had 0.1 points more, the color of the medal would have been different.

First medal in shooting after 2012

When the Indian shooter was out, she was just 0.1 points behind South Korea’s Yeji Kim who eventually won the silver medal with a score of 241.3. Kim’s compatriot Ye Jin Oh won the gold medal with a score of 243.2. This is India’s first Olympic medal in shooting after the London Olympics 2012. Indian shooters returned empty-handed from the Rio Olympics 2016 and Tokyo Olympics.

Manu has had a bittersweet relationship with pistol shooting legend Rana, who has won dozens of medals in the Commonwealth and Asian Games. He became Manu’s coach before the 2018 Asian Games and under his guidance Manu won ten Senior World Cup medals (2018 to 2021). The two parted ways in March 2021 due to differences before the Tokyo Olympics. Last year Manu decided to join coach Rana and the result is in front of us.
