New Delhi. India’s shooter Manu Bhaker missed out on a hat-trick of medals in Paris Olympics by just one point. Manu finished fourth in the 25m air pistol women’s singles final. After eight series, Manu and Hungary’s Veronica Major were tied with 28-28 points. In the elimination round, Hungary’s Veronica hit 3 out of 5 shots correctly while Manu could hit only 2 out of 5 shots and fell behind by one point. Manu Bhaker has already created history by winning two bronze medals in the same Olympics.
Manu Bhaker had qualified for three events in the Paris Olympics. Manu first won the bronze medal in the 10 meter air pistol women’s singles event. With this, she ended India’s 20-year drought by winning a medal in shooting. After this, Manu won another bronze medal for the country along with Sarabjot Singh in the 10 meter air pistol doubles. With this, Manu Bhaker became the first Indian female player to win two medals in the same Olympics. But today Manu could not win a medal in the 25 meter air pistol event. After missing out on a medal in the pistol shooting event, India is now hoping for a medal in archery. Today, Deepika Kumari can win a medal for the country in the women’s singles event in archery. There is also hope from Bhajan Kaur.
India’s star archer Deepika Kumari entered the Round of 32 of the women’s singles competition of the Olympic Games on July 31 by defeating Estonia’s Reena Parnat 6-5 in a shoot-off in the first match. After this, she entered the pre-quarterfinals by defeating Netherlands’ Quinty Roffen 6-2 in the second match. After this competition, India’s Anantjit Singh Naruka is also expected to win a medal in skeet shooting today. If Anantjit Singh makes it to the final of men’s skeet, he can bring a medal. After this competition, a medal is also expected from Tajinderpal Singh Toor in men’s shot put of athletics.
