India’s star shooter Manu Bhaker concluded her campaign at the Paris Olympics 2024 by finishing fourth in the women’s 25m pistol event on Saturday, August 3. Bhaker emerged as India’s best Olympian in the 33rd Olympic Games, but she expressed disappointment at missing out on the third medal. The 22-year-old shooter unfortunately missed out on winning three out of three medals. She won the bronze medal in the individual 10m air pistol and the mixed 10m air pistol event with Sarabjot Singh. India has won all three medals in shooting. At the same time, India’s hopes are still alive in some other sports.
Manu is disappointed due to defeat
Manu’s teammate Arjun Babuta was one of the Indians who missed out on a medal in Paris. Babuta finished fourth in the final of the men’s 10m rifle event and Bhaker revealed that he felt Babuta’s pain after missing out on a medal on Saturday. Speaking to India TV Sports Editor Sameep Rajguru in Paris, Bhaker also thanked Indian supporters and urged them to keep supporting the remaining contenders at the Paris Olympics 2024.

Speaking to India TV, Manu Bhaker said, “I am very disappointed not to have made it to the top three, but being one point up or down in the final is everything. Finishing fourth is never enough and now I can understand the pain of my teammate Arjun Babuta, as he finished fourth in his event.” Manu Bhaker credited her family and coaches for her success at the Paris Olympics and revealed her hard work that helped her make a strong comeback after a disappointing campaign at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Manu further said that I have seen a lot of ups and downs because everything in my life is related to this sport. But now I can see all the hard work and efforts of eight years which are proving fruitful for me. Now everyone is supporting me, many people supported me after my performance at the Tokyo Olympics and I am grateful for that.
